Hey Blogsters!  Long time no see  :(

I apologize for being completely MIA!!  I did not post at all yesterday ~ but trust me, it was for your own good.  Yesterday was just a bad day for me and I was not a in great mood, so I skipped my blogging and spared you the details of my day.  Nothing bad happened, it was completely me – and my mood, and my outlook on things.  I find that I often think too much, which leads me to unecessary bad moods.

I will do a quick recap of yesterday’s eats, but first I just have to show you guys this pic!  Today, I came to the realization that winter requires totally different gym gear, such as things to put on to walk to your car after you finish your workout.  Check out what I wore out of the locker room and to my car post-workout:

It made me laugh, so I thought I would share the silliness.  Tonight I am going to pack a bigger gym bag for tomorrow, equipped with sweats to put on post-workout. 

Alright, lots of eats to catch you up on.  And they are all delish! 

I think that I left Blogland at some point on Saturday after my lunch at Subway.  Saturday’s dinner consisted of steamed veggies with Lo Mein noodles and teryaki sauce.  This is actually a fairly nutritious skillet meal that Ben and I put together.  We added our own grilled chicken – which makes it a little less nutritious, but still delicious!  And of course there was a cruchy breadstick cracker on the side.  Dessert was an Arnold’s 100% Whole Wheat Sandwich Thin toasted with PB and raisins and also half of a leftover Christmas cookie ~ perfect for my sweet tooth!!

Saturday Dinner


Sunday I got right out of bed and straight into workout mode.  I needed a workout because I had been off for too  many days in a row – I was getting irritated at myself and my laziness.  I did Turbo Jam Fat Blaster and Cardio Party Remix on Sunday morning.  It felt great!  By the time I finished and showered and ran a few errands with Benny, it was already time for lunch.  Breakfast time gets away from me so quickly lately = Not good.  Lunch consisted of something amazing:  My grandma’s homemade veggie soup!  I love it!  On the side I had two Wasa wheat crisp bread wafers, because I always have to have something crunchy, especially with soup.  And an Arnold’s 100% Whole Wheat Sandwich Thin with Laughing Cow cheese / pizza sauce / Parmesan cheese.  Yum!

For dinner,  Ben and I decided to make our own instead of cooking together.  He wanted tuna patties (yuck)!  I decided to go with one of my all-time favs ~ eggs with salsa.  I used Eggbeaters to create an omelet.  Usually I add red and green peppers and onions, but do not have any of these on hand, so my omelet was a little plain.  I topped off the omelet with my mom’s homemade salsa.  On the side, steamed broccoli and Wasa cracker. 

Sunday Din 

I believe there was an undocumented dessert – a Lindt chocolate (or two)!  A student had given me a box of Lindt chocolates for Christmas.  I have done a great job staying away from it, until last night.  But not to worry, after eating two of them last night, I took them all, along with other leftover Christmas sweets, to school today and set them in the Teacher’s Lounge.  I was pleased to see that they were completely gone by the end of the day.  This makes me happy because I did not waste them, but also am not going to be eating them!

Today was my first day back to teaching in two weeks.  I enjoyed Christmas break and enjoyed, enjoyed, enjoyed being with my family and Ben’s family.  But I think a small, teeny-tiny, little-bitty part of me was ready to go back to work.  I need routine and structure in my life.  I am a super-structured person and if that is missing, it’s hard for me to deal.  So today was a good day.  Nice to see you again, Structure!!

It was so awesome to see my little kiddos again.  I did not realize how much I missed them until they walked in the door this morning.  We had a good day together and I know the rest of the school year is going to zoom by. 

I was trying to be so productive today at school, because as soon as I walked in my door this morning, I was overwhelmed with things that needed to be done.  I automatically made a list and added to it all morning.  I decided to use my lunch time to work.  I had packed steamed veggies, an orange, and a Clif Kid’s Bar for my prep period.  I ended up eating the Clif Kid’s Bar for lunch.  The veggies and orange are still sitting in the refrigerator at school.  At least I do not have to pack a lunch tonight and I got a lot done at school ~ both plusses.

I was looking forward to my workout all day, trying to save energy for it.  But then after I only at a Clif Kid’s Bar for lunch, I told myself I probably would not have a great workout.  I was wrong!  I loved my workout today! 

First of all, though, check out the combination lock I bought.  I normally do not use one, but I am always a little nervous.  I decided I was a lot nervous now that there are millions of new gym members fulfilling NY resolutions.


How can I be excited about a lock ?!?!  I am a nerd.

Today the gym was so crowded.  I am so happy for all the newbies I see in there fulfilling resolutions and getting healthy, but at the same time, I was a little irritated.  I was so ready for a long run, but there were zero treadmills available when I went in, so I settled for the elliptical.  I set the elliptical for the 25 minute gluteal workout and watched all the newbies on the treadmills, waiting for one to open up. 

I am very anal about numbers.  For example, when I pump gas, I have to stop at either a .50 or .00  I cannot stop at a random amount, like $23.47 – and I am the same way when I workout.  If I set a program for 25 minutes, it is so hard for me to stop before I am finished, or to stop at a number like 22:22.  This made it difficult to get a treadmill.  I would see one open up, but I was on 21:45, so I couldn’t stop.  I had to at least wait until an even 22.  By the time I did that, the treadmill was taken.  Is anyone else weird about numbers or just me?  Do you have any peeve like this one that bothers you or something strange that you are anal about?  Just curious!

Anyway, I ended up finishing my full 25 minutes on the elliptical and waiting just a minute or two for a treadmill.  I did lunges while I waited.  I had on my new gym shorts that I got for Christmas, so I was extra pumped today.  I love new workout gear, don’t you?

When it was finally my turn on the treadmill, I decided to dominate it!  Actually, I think I was just so appreciative of the machine and having a turn on it, that I really wanted to take advantage of it.  I hope I continue to feel so appreciative of workout equipment!!  I ended up running 4 miles today.  I walk 1/10 of every mile, but other than that I was running at speeds I did not know I could handle!!  I was on a 2.5 incline and went back and forth between speeds of 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5  because I never do odd # speeds, like 7.3 of course!!

I liked my treadmill workout / speeds / how I timed them.  Before leaving the gym, I squeezed in some inner & outer thigh machines.  I love these, too!  I need to broaden my machine usage.  When I first started, Ben showed me how to use 6 machines and those are the only six I use.  I am intimidated by new machines and afraid to try them out on my own.  What is your favorite machine at the gym? 

Alright, such a long post.  Here is my huge dinner salad for tonight.  It consists of lettuce, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, turkey, celery, Parmesan cheese, and of course, some Goldfish for added crunchiness.
